Etymology

From Eden +‎ -ize. The nursing sense comes from the Eden Alternative proposed by William H. Thomas (physician).

Verb

Edenize (third-person singular simple present Edenizes, present participle Edenizing, simple past and past participle Edenized)

1. (transitive) To bring to a state of paradisaic happiness.

2. (transitive, nursing) To convert (a traditional institutional nursing home) into a community where patients can live a full and active life.
