Named after French neurologist Henri Duret (1849–1921), its discoverer.

Duret hemorrhage (plural Duret hemorrhages)

  1. (medicine) A small hemorrhage in the brainstem, typically in the midbrain and upper pons, as a result of the traumatic downward displacement of the brainstem (i.e. descending transtentorial herniation).
