[edit]- (Noord-Brabant) Attested as Herberg de Pan in 1794. Derived from pan (“pan, pot”). Named after a former inn. Compare Kanis, Moespot and Vuilpan.
- (Zuid-Holland) Attested as de Pan in 1839-1859. Derived from pan (“bowl-shaped depression in the landscape”).
