[edit]- (Gelderland) First attested as de Hoven in 1866. Derived from the plural of form of hof (“farmstead, homestead”). See also Dutch Low Saxon De Höäve.
- (Flevoland) Derived from the plural form of hof (“farmstead, homestead”). Most of the street names in the neighbourhood end with hof.
- (Noord-Brabant) Derived from the plural of form of hof (“farmstead, homestead”). The neighbourhood's streets are named after various farmsteads.
- (Overijssel) Derived from the plural form of hof (“garden, vegetable garden”). The land the current neighbourhood stands on was formerly occupied by a complex of vegetable gardens.
