- (Noord-Brabant) Potentially attested as heuvel in 1443, attested with certainty as aan den Heuvel in 1683. Derived from heuvel (“hill”).
- (Zuid-Holland) Derived from heuvel (“hill”). Named after the former Op den Heuvel farmhouse.
