[edit]- (Zuid-Holland) First attested as totter donck toe in 1383. Derived from Middle Dutch donc (“sandy hill protruding above a marsh”).
- (Noord-Brabant) Derived from donk (“sandy hill protruding above a swamp”). The names of the neighbourhood's streets all contain the element donk.
