[edit]Attested as De Nootdorpsche kade in 1611. Derived from the toponym Brasserskade, a compound of the surname Brasser and kade (“quay”). The toponym references Govert Willemsz. Brasser, a mayor of Delft who owned a manor near the current neighbourhood. The name of the modern neighbourhood derives from the popular nickname of the Brasserskade.
