Clanga clanga

Etymology

[edit]

Evidently from Ancient Greek κλάγγος (klángos), an alternate reading of πλάγγος (plángos, a kind of eagle), though some sources (following Willughby, 1676) instead posit a relationship to Ancient Greek κλαγγή (klangḗ, clash) or Latin clangō (I clang; (of an eagle) I scream).
