Claisen rearrangement (plural Claisen rearrangements)

  1. (organic chemistry) A powerful carbon–carbon bond-forming chemical reaction, in which the heating of an allyl vinyl ether initiates a [3,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement to give a γ,δ-unsaturated carbonyl.
