Otherwise, all we know about the Elden Beast is that it is the (living) concept of Order, a subordinate to the Greater Will, lives inside the body of Maragon, and was sent to the Lands Between very long ago.
And most assume that Miquella and Malenia are born of the conjoined Maragon, but perhaps their birth is complicated because Radagon is finally "the God" after Marika's death and they are quite literally born from only 1 Living half?
He was clearly having a crisis of faith before we told him about the truth regarding the duality of Maragon (Radika?), so if he wanted to go back to where it all began, he could have gone there without knowing about the truth we tell.
Here's my speculation: Maragon can’t beat Rennala so they marry her to unite the lands (maybe offering her a lineage or children in return and maybe explaining why they left her the unborn great rune).
However, it does leave you to wonder - who within the Golden Order recognized the twins' curse as being similar to the nature of Maragon, and decided to accept them?
