@Gamren Hey - hard to say what it should be exactly. Wikipedia uses the term "West Greenlandic Pidgin" which is listed here as one of "Greenlandic Pidgin"'s aliases. As "West Greenlandic" is simplified to "Greenlandic" on Wiktionary across the board I suppose it makes sense to do the same here, and thus keep it as it is. What do you think? —JakeybeanTALK 15:17, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Jakeybean Well, we call it "Greenlandic" because that's what people call it in everyday speech. On the other hand, I'm assuming this pidgin is unlikely to come up outside of academia; the people who would study this would probably appreciate the precision. This is purely speculation; I know nothing about this language.__Gamren (talk) 19:40, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Gamren Me neither - I just know it as a trade language that has been obsolete for a while. There are very few resources on it, and due to extinction there will probably never be anything else written about it that isn't already out there. If you want to focus on precision then I'm fine with referring to it as West Greenlandic Pidgin. —JakeybeanTALK 19:43, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
