Moving all Lillooet entries to a Bouchard orthography
[edit]The vast majority of Lillooet-speaking communities, including (and especially) the Lillooet Tribal Council, St̓át̓imc Nation, and the Líl̓wat nation, use the Bouchard orthography (in the right column). The majority of Lillooet material both in print and online, including books such as Cuystwí Malh Ucwalmícwts and the English-Líl̓wat and Líl̓wat-English Dictionaries, and the FirstVoices page for both the northern dialect and the southern one, are in the Bouchard orthography. The American Phoneticist orthography is only used in linguistic and academic materials.
Therefore, it is logical that every entry on Lillooet Wiktionary should be in the Bouchard orthography. Many are currently not, like qʷənqʷánt, for example. Entries not in Bouchard are distinguished by their use of characters outside the standard Latin alphabet (Bouchard also includes '7', as well as the acute accent and the combining comma above).
I propose that every existing entry not in Bouchard should be deleted, and new ones should be made for the Bouchard equivalents. It is illogical to keep the existing non-Bouchard entries, either in whole or as a redirect; they do not meet the criteria for alternative forms. Qaqqaqaqaaq (talk) 03:14, 10 August 2024 (UTC)
