A category named "Czech male surnames" kinda sounds like these are surnames given to men. I say this by analogy with Category:Czech male given names, which are names given to men.

I suggest doing this:

  1. Add {{surname}} in all the entries that lack that template and are categorized as "male surnames" and "female surnames", to let them be properly categorized into Category:Czech surnames.
  2. Delete Category:Czech female surnames and Category:Czech male surnames.
  3. Correct me if I'm wrong: The female/male distinction above seems to be just a question of grammar. So, if desired (it may or may not be desired), maybe {{cs-proper noun}} can be edited, causing it to automatically fill F/M proper noun categories.

(P.S.: I don't like the fact that Category:Czech female surnames and Category:Czech male surnames are currently subcategories of Category:cs:Female and Category:cs:Male, respectively. I would probably oppose adding any words to the latter two categories based on the words' grammatical gender.)

Keep: Why this again? This whole "gender" argument has been rejected in Wiktionary:Votes/pl-2010-01/Renaming given name appendixes, right? You opposed in that vote but there was consensus; a great majority of editors found the argument that you are here presenting again unconvincing. If consensus changes, I think the linked vote should be annulled in the first place via another vote. --Dan Polansky (talk) 08:24, 28 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
