Unicode name

[edit]

@AryamanA I think the name of this script should be its unicode name "tagalog". Msasag (talk) 09:40, 18 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

@AryamanA Shouldn't it follow the rule which is followed by other scripts? Msasag (talk) 19:37, 18 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Msasag: I think the reasoning is that it is not only used by the Tagalog language (it's also used by Kapampangan language) so calling it Tagalog doesn't make sense (much like Bengali script should rather be called Eastern Nagari). Also, it is not the primary script of Tagalog anymore, so calling it by its real name makes it more clear what we're talking about. —AryamanA (मुझसे बात करेंयोगदान) 22:58, 18 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
@AryamanA Eastern Nagari script is still using its Unicode name though, even though it's used to write 10+ more languages and was also used to write the ancestors of many of those languages. Msasag (talk) 01:51, 19 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Msasag: I would prefer "Eastern Nagari", it's more inclusive and accurate terms. What do you think? Also @DerekWinters, Bhagadatta. —AryamanA (मुझसे बात करेंयोगदान) 01:53, 19 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
@AryamanA Same here. It's used in Wikipedia. Msasag (talk) 03:12, 19 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
@AryamanA: I agree as well. Can this be fixed though? -- Bhagadatta (talk) 01:33, 20 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
