- In pre-1918 orthography, the letter ѣ̈ (jǒ) occurred in rare instances where a stressed letter ѣ (jě) was pronounced in the same way as the modern letter ё (jo). As with ё, Wiktionary follows the dictionary style by including the diaeresis, but forms with ѣ are also allowed as alternative spellings.
