Marathi terms with a noticeable absence of a word-final sound. This is usually refers to the word-final deletion of the high vowels /i/ and /u/ in the lemma form of terms borrowed from Sanskrit.
For example, the deletion of /i/ in रात्र (rātra) from Sanskrit रात्रि (rātri) and the deletion of /u/ in मध (madh) from Sanskrit मधु (madhu).
