[edit]From Swedish Kajaneborg, from Kajana (“Kainuu”) + borg (“-burg: town”), probably from Russian каяний (kajanij) and каянский (kajanskij) and cognate with Finnish Kainuu and Old Norse Old Norse kvenir. Equivalent to Cajania + -burg.
