[edit]Attested as Blauwe-Wijk in 1936. Compound of blauw (“blue”) and wijk (“settlement, neighbourhood”). Named for the colour of the roof tiles of the settlement's first houses. The element blauw was added to distinguish the settlement from Roodewijk.
