[edit]Etymology
[edit]First attested as bursbergen in 1387. If the oldest attestation of the toponym refers to the current settlement, a derivation from a compound of Middle Dutch brus (“brushwood, bushes”) and berg (“hill, elevated place”) is possible. Compare Beuseberg and Buurse.
