[edit]From a substrate language, probably from Proto-Celtic *berwyā (compare Welsh berw (“to boil”)), ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *bʰerwyeh₂, from *bʰerw- (“to boil”).[1] Berbia is also the name of other rivulets in Galicia.
