[edit]From Kannada ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು (beṅgaḷūru). The source of the name Bengaluru is usually attributed to [script needed] (beṅga-val-ūru, “city of guards”) in Old Kannada or [script needed] (benda-kāl-ūru, “town of boiled beans”) from Kannada folklore.
