[edit]Borrowed from Sanskrit बालाजी (bālājī), from बाल (bāla, “young boy, the form of Vishnu at the Tirupati temple in Andhra Pradesh.”) + -जी (-jī, “honorific”). The surname is particularly found in Andhra Pradesh.
