[edit]- (Hilvarenbeek) First attested as baescot in 1301. Compound of an uncertain first element and schot (“enclosed space, fenced-in territory”).
- (Deurne) First attested as berscot in 1423. Compound of either beer (“manure, mud”) and schoot (“piece of land that juts upward”) or beer (“boar, male pig”) and schot (“enclosed space, fenced-in territory”). Compare Beerschoten.
