1. a female river deity worshipped by several mainly Eastern Yorùbá speaking towns, including Ọ̀wọ̀, Ìjàrẹ́ and Ijù. Atan in southern Èkìtì traditions is often regarded as the senior wife (ìyáálé) of the supreme sky deity, Àbarị̀ṣà.
