[edit]Etymology
[edit]From New Latin asplenium (“spleenworts”), Linnaeus's adjustment of Latin asplenon (“spleenwort”), from Ancient Greek ἄσπληνον (ásplēnon, “spleenwort”), from ἀ- (a-, “un-”) + σπλήν (splḗn, “spleen”) + -ον (-on, “-um”), from its use to cure anthrax in livestock.
