[edit]From arachno- (“spider; arachnid”, from Ancient Greek ᾰ̓ρᾰ́χνης (ărắkhnēs)) + Ancient Greek ᾰ̓́νθος (ắnthos, “flower; bloom”). Possibly influenced by the type genus of the family, translingual Arachnactis; and another common genus, translingual Isarachnanthus.
