Why call it "Matisoff (2015)"?

[edit]

Calling The Sino-Tibetan Etymological Dictionary and Thesaurus "Matisoff (2015)" is needlessly confusing. STEDT is an online resource--and the initial release was in 2016, not 2015. Also, Matisoff has print publications from 2015, so a user who isn't aware of STEDT and tries to hunt down "Matisoff (2015)" is going to be frustrated. 98.115.255.240 18:27, 29 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

@98.115.255.240: Yes, but at some point it was frozen and no longer updated after STEDT stopped receiving NSF and NEH funding. Therefore, Matisoff (201x) still makes sense. The database software was published in 2015. The "digital assets" were released in 2016, but the database was already online back in the early 2010s. Abacaxeiro (talk) 05:50, 9 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
