still current

[edit]

Of these terms, the following are still current, with attestations from after the year 2000: iqyax, parka, kabloona, muktuk, pingo, tupilaq/tupilak, angakok, anorak, nunatak, igloo, inuksuk, kamik, ookpik, Tiktaalik ... kuspuk, qasgiq and mukluk. I have not yet checked the ECI, WCI or Inupiak terms. Chimo is the only term which appears to be falling out of use. - -sche (discuss) 18:41, 26 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

The most common word from an Eskimo-Aleut language is kayak, followed (at some distance) by igloo and anorak. - -sche (discuss) 07:57, 18 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

@-sche: Not in the list, but it lacks an etymology and I haven't the resources at the moment. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 22:20, 9 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. I've expanded the entry. - -sche (discuss) 04:40, 10 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
Thank you! This was prompted, incidentally, by me just discovering that evidently I have one from Alaska. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 05:03, 10 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
