Sindarin

[edit]

Etymology

[edit]

Modified from rhandir in Tolkien’s earlier conception of the language (‘Noldorin’), itself modified from yet earlier amraith and earlier still amrog in ‘Gnomish’. Diegetically explained as derived from a Primitive Elvish root *ran- (‘to wander, stray, err’) + Sindarin dîr (man, male).

Noun

[edit]

randir • 62{#6T (plural rendir)

  1. wanderer, pilgrim
