[edit]From the turni (“governing”) and the tcadu (“city”).
The lujvo (“compound word”) trutca is derived from tru + tca (Rafsi of the gismu turni (“governing”). + Rafsi of the gismu tcadu (“city”). )
Etymologically, a portmanteau of two Lojban words: (tru is the rafsi (“portmanteau-form/abbreviation/affix/combining form”) of the gismu (“root word”) turni (“city”)) combined with the rafsi (“portmanteau-form”) tca of the gismu (“root word”) tcadu (“a word”).[1]
