- subhead, standfirst, rider, kicker, dek, deck – brief (usually one or two lines) elaboration of headline or summary
- byline – name and position of writer
- dateline – when and where story occurred or article was filed
- lead, lede, intro – opening paragraph
- kicker – closing paragraph
