Etymology
[edit]Gikun word derived by applying Chinese-derived spelling 旋轉, (“turning”), a term which decomposes into 旋 (“revolve, turn”) + 轉 (“shift, turn”), to native Japanese verb まわる (mawaru, “to turn”).
