[edit]From Ancient Greek ἄκανθα (ákantha, “thorn”) + Latin cybium (“tunny”), from Ancient Greek κύβιον (kúbion, “flesh of the young tunny”), from κύβος (kúbos, “piece of salted fish”).[1]
