The Islamic sense derives from the numerical value of the Arabic phrase بِسْمِ ٱللّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ (bismi llāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīmi, In the name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate), known as the basmala, calculated using the Abjad numeral system.
