Reduction of obsolete sign 1@Ear 1@Mouth B@RadialHand-PalmForward-B@CenterNeckhigh-PalmForward (“hearing and speaking are closed”), hearkens to the then-acceptable manualist term, Deaf-mute.

    1. Posture the dominant hand in the “1” handshape with the index finger touching the jaw.
    2. Hold the hand still briefly.
