-tod /tɔd/ and -dod /dɔd/ are variants of the same suffix. /tɔd/ (phonetically [tʰɔt]) is always spelt -tod whereas /dɔd/ is represented by -tod after an unvoiced fricative (phonetically [tɔt]) and by -dod after other voiced sounds (phonetically [dɔt]).
