  1. (passive suffix, archaic) Added to a back-vowel verb to form a verb with a passive meaning.
    használ (to use) + ‎-tatik → ‎használtatik (to be used)

  • (passive suffix) Variants:
    -atik is added to back-vowel verbs ending in a consonant + t and most monosyllabic verbs
    ad (to give) + ‎-atik → ‎adatik (to be given)
    -etik is added to front-vowel verbs ending in a consonant + t and most monosyllabic verbs
    szül (to give birth) + ‎-etik → ‎születik (to be born)
    -tatik is added to back-vowel verbs ending in a vowel + t
    használ (to use) + ‎-tatik → ‎használtatik (to be used)
    -tetik is added to front-vowel verbs ending in a vowel + t
    nevez (to name) + ‎-tetik → ‎neveztetik (to be named)
