Probably equivalent to -lta (ablative suffix) +‎ -i (lative suffix) (from earlier *-ltik). Compare -sti.

  1. Forms adverbs from some adjectives, that mean "in the manner of being something". The meaning is roughly the same as that of -sti (-ly). The corresponding English expressions are not necessarily obvious.
    Levitin leivälle paksulti voita.
    I spread a thick layer of butter on the bread.
