[edit]Probably equivalent to -lta (ablative suffix) + -i (lative suffix) (from earlier *-ltik). Compare -sti.

- Forms adverbs from some adjectives, that mean "in the manner of being something". The meaning is roughly the same as that of -sti (“-ly”). The corresponding English expressions are not necessarily obvious.
- Levitin leivälle paksulti voita.
- I spread a thick layer of butter on the bread.
- Olen pitkälti sitä mieltä, että...
- I am, by and large, of the opinion that...

Usage notes
[edit]- Some derivations are probably better understood as words in their own right, e.g. silti, kosolti, viljalti.
