Etymology

Unknown. Sometimes connected to 어불다 (eobulda, dialectal form of 어우르다 (eoureuda, “to incorporate; to bring together”)), but this does not explain the initial consonant. Jeju 알롸 (-allwa) is from the same root.

1. (dialectal) even; expresses greater intensity than 도 (-do).

   Synonyms: 조차 (-jocha), 마저 (-majeo), 까지 (-kkaji)

• It is found in all dialects except Seoul and its environs.
