(Redirected from -եւին)

Old Armenian

[edit]

Etymology

[edit]

From the stem vowel -ե- (-e-) + -ւ- (-w-), which has the same origin as (-w, instrumental case marker), namely Proto-Indo-European *-bʰi, +‎ -ին (-in) suffix. Alternatively, and more probably, -ին (-in) may reflect the -i- in Proto-Indo-European *-bʰi followed by a demonstrative element from Proto-Indo-European *-nós > (-n). Compare -ովին (-ovin).

Suffix

[edit]

-ևին (-ewin)

  1. Forming adverbs.
