[edit]

Depiction of a sparkling or shimmering red or pink heart; a love heart with yellow stars around it (but see usage notes).

Etymology

[edit]

Introduced in the emoji sets of the Japanese mobile manufacturer au by KDDI in 2003 (as an animated sparkling pink heart), and standardised in Unicode 6.0 in October 2010.

Symbol

[edit]

๐Ÿ’– (Internet slang)

  1. Indicates appreciation, admiration, compassion, kindness, happiness or thankfulness.
    Thank you so much! ๐Ÿ’–
  2. Indicates love, romance or care; an alternative form of โค.
Love ya, sis, you silly goober. ๐Ÿ’– Happy birthday Kayla!! ๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿฅณ
  3. Indicates a sweet, happy, teasing or playful tone.
    Hi there~ ๐Ÿ’–
  4. Indicates goodwill, approval or support.
Good luck out there today everyone.. we will win this time I just know it ๐Ÿ’–

Usage notes

[edit]
  • The design of this symbol varies by platform and emoji set. The most common design, however, is a pink heart with yellowish stars indicating sparkling.
  • In most senses, ๐Ÿ’– may be considered a tamer, more platonic version of โค by some; however, in the romance sense, it can be seen as either equal to, or more intense than โค.
