Cognate with Manchu ᡝᠮᡠ (emu, “one”), Evenki умӯн (umūn), Even өмэн (ömən) and Even умэн (umən).^[1]

In case of reading /mɑs/, possibly cognate with Korean 맏 (mat, “eldest”) or Korean 마수 (masu, “first”).^[2]
