From Proto-Anatolian [Term?], from Proto-Indo-European *bΚ°Γ³dΚ°hβ‚‚-ey ~ *bΚ°dΚ°hβ‚‚-Γ©n-ti, from the root *bΚ°edΚ°hβ‚‚- (β€œto dig, burrow”).[1] Cognate with Proto-Balto-Slavic *bΓ‘dΔ«Λ€tei (β€œto pierce, stab”), Latin fodiō (β€œto pierce; to dig”), Tocharian A pāt- (β€œto plow”).
