From 𐼀𐼀𐼄𐼀𐼊𐼌 (ʾʾɣʾyδ), 𐫀𐫀𐫄𐫀𐫏𐫔 (ʾʾɣʾyδ /⁠āɣēδ⁠/, to wish, demand), from Proto-Iranian *āgādáyati,[1] from *aH- +‎ *gādáyati, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *gʰādʰáyati, from Proto-Indo-European *gʷʰodʰ-éye-ti, from *gʷʰedʰ- (to ask, wish) +‎ *-éyeti.
