Derived from Proto-Turkic *to- (to be full), equivalent to 𐱃𐰆 (to-, to be full) +‎ 𐰸 (-uq). Cognate with Turkish tok, Uzbek to'q, Bashkir туҡ (tuq), Khakas тох (tox).
