Inherited from Proto-Turkic *ordu (palace). Cognate with Turkish ordu, Uzbek orda, Bashkir урда (urda), Yakut ордуу (orduu). Compare also Mongolian орд (ord), Middle Chinese 甌脫, possibly Turkic borrowings.
