[edit]From earlier [Term?] (/*šāhpuhr/), from Old Persian *xšāyaθiyahyāpuθrah (literally “king's son”), from 𐏋 (XŠ /xšāyaθiya/, “king”) + 𐎱𐎢𐏂 (p-u-ç /puça/, “son”). Cognate with Parthian 𐭔𐭇𐭉𐭐𐭅𐭇𐭓 (šḥypwḥr).
