From Middle Persian *Vahbarz, from Old Persian *Vahubr̥zans,[1][2][3] from *vahuš (good, excellent) +‎ *br̥zans (high, exalted).[4] Cognate with Parthian 𐭅𐭇𐭅𐭁𐭓𐭆 (wḥwbrz), Ancient Greek Οβορζος (Oborzos).
