Etymology

[edit]

A vαΉ›ddhi derivation of the adjective *ΞΈigraka-, itself from *ΞΈigra- (β€œgarlic”) + *ka- (hypocoristic suffix).[1]

Palatalisation during the derivation of *ΞΈigraka- from θāigračiΕ‘ occurred on same pattern as during the derivations of Δ€kaufačiyā- from *Δ€kaufaka- and of Mačiyā- from *Maka-.
