[edit]From Proto-Permic *ΕaΕ, borrowed from an Iranian language, ultimately from Proto-Iranian *nagna- (compare Persian ΩΨ§Ω (nΓ’n)). Cognates include Komi-Zyrian Π½ΡΠ½Ρ (ΕaΕ) and Udmurt Π½ΡΠ½Ρ (ΕaΕ).
